While upbringing reflects the need for correction and discipline, symbolized by smoke and oil, the artwork ultimately emphasizes the mutual appreciation needed between mothers and daughters, acknowledging the journey of forgiveness and the yearning for a deeper, tender connection beyond the trials of past generations.
